Submitting Requests via Smartdevices (Smartphones etc.)
[Previous] [Main] [Next]

The CompuHost Remote Request Submission System provides your Performers the convenience of browsing and submitting requests using their smartphone or similar device (IPads etc.). Of course, this does require that their smartdevice have networked access to your Remote Request Server, typically accomplished through a Wireless Network configuraton or public Internet connectability.

Depending on your network configuration and whether you have Internet connectability, this process may differ...

Wireless Local Network WITHOUT Internet Connectability. (Properly Configured Wireless Network Required)
·ALL Smartdevices MUST have access to your "Local Wireless Network". Therefore you'll need to provide your Performers with the SID (Security Identifier) of your Local Wireless Network and depending on your network configuration, provide them the Access Key required to connect to your Wireless Network Hotspot.
·After the Performer has successfully connected and joined your Local Wireless Network, they may access the Remote Request Server utilizing the Web Browser within their Smartdevice, and browse to the Remote Request Server Address (URL) displayed on the Main Dialog of the Remote Request Server (pictured below). REMINDER! The Performer must utilize the ENTIRE Remote Request Server Address as displayed on the Main Dialog of the Remote Request Server, INCLUDING the Network Port segment (after the colon).

Local Network (Wired or Wireless) WITH Internet Connectability and accessable from the Internet
IMPORTANT! Before your Performers can access your Local Network FROM the Internet, you must first ensure your Router and/or Firewall is properly configured and the applicable port(s) are open to the public. You may obtain the applicable Network Port by referencing the "Remote Request Server Address" displayed on the Main Dialog of the Remote Request Server (pictured above), The "Network Port" is provided as part of the "Remote Request Server Address" , following the colon (:). In the example above, the "Network Port" would be "49152". Please reference the documentation provided with the applicable Router and/or Firewall for setup/configuration information.

·Login/Connect your Local Network to the Internet.
·Obtain the "Public IP Address" assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider upon login.
IMPORTANT! The "Public IP Address" should NOT be confused with the "Local Remote Request Server Address" displayed on the Main Dialog of the Remote Request Server. One simple way to determine your "Public IP Address" is to open your Web Browser and visit "www.whatismyip.com". Unless you have opted for a "Static IP" from your Internet Provider, your "Public IP Address" will most likely change EACH time you connect to the Internet. Therefore you must be sure to utilize the current "Public IP Address" as assigned to the then current connection.
·Performer's may then access your Remote Request Server by simply browsing to your "Public IP Address" (as obtained in step 2) utilizing the Web Browser provided within their Smartdevice.

Optionally you may request a "Static IP" (always the same) from your Internet Service Provider, register your own domain name pointed to the static IP, and actually offer your users an easier to remember URL such as songbook.mykaraoke.com .
